Situated on the River Deben, Woodbridge offers a perfect blend of history, culture, and scenic charm, making it an ideal destination for The Suffolk Cottage Collection’s guests. This vibrant market town invites visitors to explore its unique attractions, historic sites, and delightful culinary scene.

One of Woodbridge’s most iconic landmarks, the Tide Mill, offers a fascinating glimpse into the town’s industrial heritage. Dating back over 800 years, the mill remains fully operational, allowing visitors to experience its traditional milling processes firsthand. Nearby, the National Trust’s Sutton Hoo Museum is just a short journey away. This world-famous archaeological site, one of England’s most important, is brought to life in Ralph Fiennes’ film The Dig, where his character Basil Brown, unveils treasures from Anglo-Saxon burial mounds, providing a fascinating insight into England’s Anglo Saxon history.

Woodbridge also boasts a rich selection of pubs, restaurants, and cafes. The Thoroughfare is a lively street where visitors can browse independent shops and sample local food and drink from its independent shops, charming cafes and sample fine dining in its restaurants. For a standout dining experience, The Galley on Quay Street – run by chef/proprietor Ugar Vata – offers an authentic menu that celebrates local ingredients and flavours from his native Turkey. Woodbridge’s friendly atmosphere extends to its riverside walks and bustling markets, making it a fantastic spot for a leisurely day out.

Just off the A12, Woodbridge provides easy access to London, and with its direct rail connection, visitors can enjoy a stress-free journey. Combining convenience with rural charm, Woodbridge is a destination that promises relaxation, exploration, and the best of Suffolk’s culture.
