Aldeburgh’s lively event calendar brings locals and visitors together throughout the year. The Aldeburgh Carnival, held each August, fills the streets with colourful parades, music, and celebrations, while the town’s festive Christmas Lights Switch-On draws crowds eager to experience the holiday spirit along the coast. Folk East, held nearby, each summer, is a celebration of local music and culture, an unmissable event. Aldeburgh’s maritime history is still very much alive; working fishing boats can be seen on the beach and the town’s lifeboat station is a proud part of the community, offering an ongoing life-saving tradition that has supported local fishermen and sailors for generations.

Our take: Walking the carnival streets or seeing the working boats brings the town to life. You have to see it to believe it!
