Positioned in the eaves of the building is an attic dormitory which sleeps two adults and two children comfortably in the bespoke, purpose built beds. There are two standard three foot single beds either side and a double bed at the rear of the room. Guests can store clothes and belongings in the shelves at the top of the stairs and in the three wooden drawers in the double bed space. Please understand that due to this room being in the eaves of the building, the head height is restricted, especially over the beds.

Outside

The decked area wraps around the Boathouse and leads to a picket gate which guests can use to access the beach, through the fenced heath area.

There is a table and chairs for guests to use beside the Boathouse and in the warmer seasons.

If you bring a dog with you, please make sure you clear up after him/her and do not leave him/her unattended at any time.

There are dogs at the property next door who may have a little bark from time to time, especially when there’s another doggie neighbour.

Why book with us?

When you book with The Suffolk Cottage Collection, you're getting the best possible price- no hidden fees, no inflated commissions. And if you speak to us, chances are you'll chat with Donna, who turns bookings into a breeze and always goes the extra mile with a smile. "Donna was fantastic with communication. Nothing was ever too much trouble."

We are local

We're not just in Suffolk - we're part of it. Our little farmhouse HQ looks out over rolling fields and winding lanes, and when we pop out for a walk, it's usually through the same villages and footpaths you'll be exploring on your holiday. We're properly local - and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Always here to help you

No robots. No "please press 1." Just real people who pick up the phone and actually want to talk to you. Got a question? Want a recommendation? Need to know which pub does the best Sunday roast? We're here. And if we don't already know the answer, someone in the village probably does.

Handpicked with heart

We don't do bland. Every one of our cottages is chosen because it has something special - the kind of place we'd book ourselves (or proudly recommend to Mum). If it's in our collection, it's passed the The Suffolk Cottage Collection Standard: charm, comfort, and a sense of place you can feel the moment you step through the door.

Thorpeness

Thorpeness is home to a heathland Golf course and Country Club. During the warmer months there’s boating and kayaking on The Meare and the village is home to The Dolphin Inn, The Kitchen and a popular café next to the Meare.

The bustling seaside town of Aldeburgh is only a couple of kilometres down the road or beach if you'd like the walk.

Guests will need a car or taxi to get around the area. The bus routes are few and far between.

Guests are welcome to bring bikes and comfortable shoes as the area offers plenty of walking and cycle routes.

Guest Reviews

Amazing cottage right on the beach. Very relaxing and peaceful. Would highly recommend. Nice walk along the beach either into Thorpeness or Aldeburgh. Cottage had everything that you could need. Host was great and excellent communication etc
We completely fell in love with the Boathouse. It may be small, but it’s charming, homely and the location is nothing less than spectacular. To wake up to the sound of the sea each morning and to be able to easily walk to the beach for a swim was incredibly special; I have no doubt that we will be back again soon. Tastefully decorated and a huge hit with the kids too, it’s a delightful property in the most stunning spot. Thank you for having us.
We had a wonderful few days at Spinney's - such a beautiful and peaceful setting, the accommodation was perfect, the outdoor space lovely and the surrounding area full of great things to do and places to eat. It was so convenient to be able to directly access the beach, which was completely empty, and we had amazing weather too which was the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back!
We loved the place, right on the beach. The whole area is lovely, the property was really welcoming and comfortable and would certainly visit again. Great hosts & super friendly. Thanks for a lovely break.
