The Suffolk Cottage
Collection Story
The driving force behind The Suffolk Cottage Collection are Donna Hostler and Alex Tarry, who co-founded the business in 2024. Donna and Alex are driven by the desire to return family values, independent ownership and close communication with our guests and property owners as well as ensuring the highest available standards for our unique collection of boutique holiday cottages.

Alex bought his first holiday cottage back in 2003, a fisherman’s cottage in Aldeburgh which he restored with his own hands! In 2006 he founded his first holiday letting business with six properties, including two of his own, growing to over 425 properties with 12 of his own, before successfully selling the business in 2021. Donna has worked with Alex for the last 10 years before leaving to set up her own letting business in 2021. This year Alex and Donna decided to join forces to launch The Suffolk Cottage Collection to bring their expertise and experience to this independent, local business putting family values and close communication at the top of its list.
we love our guests
In a world of apps and automation we felt there was a place for personal service and communication with local people who know their properties and their local area.

Alongside The Suffolk Cottage Collection Alex and Donna own some of the cottages in their portfolio, so are experts in seeing things from property owners’ perspectives as well as guests. Working together Donna and Alex, along with their wider team, built their previous business to be one of the largest and most successful in Suffolk, focusing on high standards, excellent returns for owners and the very best in customer service for guests.
Let with us
The reality of the industry these days is that all of our properties are listed on the major online travel agent sites, but unlike most of our competitors we invest in our own brand, website and team such that many of our guests are loyal to The Suffolk Cottage Collection and book with us directly.
