Coastal Voyager, Southwold

There are few places in Suffolk where you can experience two completely different worlds in the space of an hour. One moment you’re skimming across the North Sea with the wind in your hair, the next you’re drifting through peaceful estuary marshes watching wildlife along the River Blyth.

Operating from Southwold Harbour, Coastal Voyager offers one of the most memorable ways to explore the Suffolk coast, whether you’re looking for excitement, wildlife, family adventure or simply a new perspective on a favourite seaside town.

“Some Suffolk experiences stay with you long after you’ve gone home. Seeing Southwold, Walberswick and the Blyth from the water is one of them.”

– Terezija, SCC

“Our skippers come back on their days off, it’s that good!”

– Maddie, Coastal Voyager

The Coastal Voyager experience

If you’re after adventure, Coastal Voyager delivers.

Built to a bespoke design in New Zealand, the boat is designed for coastal conditions while offering a safe, exhilarating ride. Speed, sea air and open water combine to make it one of Southwold’s most exciting experiences.

But it isn’t all adrenaline. Alongside the coastal trips, there are also peaceful cruises along the River Blyth, giving you time to slow down and take in one of Suffolk’s most beautiful estuaries.

Wildlife, history and the River Blyth

The River Blyth Cruise is the complete contrast to the sea.

Lasting around an hour and a half, it winds through reedbeds, mudflats and salt marshes, far removed from the bustle of everyday life. This protected landscape supports a rich variety of birdlife throughout the year.

Marsh harriers, herons, cormorants and wading birds are regularly seen, with seals occasionally appearing along quieter stretches.

Heading upriver towards Blythburgh, it’s easy to see why this estuary has long inspired visitors. Wide skies, shifting tides and winding waterways define one of Suffolk’s most distinctive coastal landscapes.

Explore Southwold Harbour

Coastal Voyager’s setting is part of its appeal. Trips depart from Blackshore, one of Southwold Harbour’s most characterful spots, beside the Walberswick rowing ferry. Fishing boats, timber sheds and working harbour life give it a very different feel from the town centre.

Stay near Southwold Harbour

If you’re planning a Coastal Voyager trip, staying nearby means you can make the most of Southwold Harbour, the River Blyth and the surrounding coastline.
